The following is a compendium of some of the people, places, and things chronicled in G-SALE.

BELL, VICKY	Owner of Bell Estate Sales, the top Estate Sale planning and management firm in the Bogwood area.
BOARD GAMES	Collectible board games of the 60s and 70s include Cinnamon Avenue, Time the Task, Open Sesame, Whatever Will I Be?, Brain Surgery, Bitin' Gators, Triple the Danger, Sugar Town, Pot o' Gold.
BOGDANCE	A music extravaganza produced and choreographed by Dick Nickerson, based on the historical folkdance known as the "Bogwood Two-Step."
BOGWOOD	Bogwood is a pleasant suburb located on the eastern outskirts of Seattle. It was settled by cranberry farmer Peter Caldwell in 1863. Clearcutting and the explosive growth of roads and suburban tracts during the 1960s and 1970s added to the boggy, marshy nature of the landscape. The suburb is known for its natural abundance of mosses and lichens (which spawned a thriving bio-tech and pharmaceutical industry in the late 1980s). Bogwood also has the distinction of being the "Garage Sale Capital of the USA" due in part to the high concentration of garages in the area. Current census figures calculate the number of garages at approximately 3.8 per capita.
BOGWOOD ALL-GIRLS BADMINTON LEAGUE	Primarily lesbian recreational badminton league which meets during summer months in Crickwell Park, Bogwood.
BOGWOOD BAY WINERY	Small boutique vintner and producers of distinctive locally-grown wines.
BOGWOOD INTERNATIONAL PAPER COMPANY (BIPCO)	One of the largest corporations in the Seattle/Bogwood area, BIPCO was incorporated in 1911 as Yakima-Bogwood Timber Co. After receiving hundreds of thousands of acres from the Cascadia Pacific Railroad in 1922, the company quickly grew to one of the top paper and office product companies in the West. Merged with Bogwood Timber and Paper Company in 1974.
BOGWOOD TWO-STEP	Folkdance popular in Bogwood circa 1905. Based on pedestrian movements to evade puddles and sinkholes in downtown Bogwood.
BRAUN, ELLIOTT	Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of e-Inmates.com.
CAVES AND BEASTS	Cult-like fantasy role-playing game circa 1982 developed by Ed LaSalle and Clive Nyak and manufactured by RLF Games of Detroit Michigan. Discontinued in 1989 after a string of bad publicity including allegations that people playing the game lost their grip on reality and committed violent crimes. Re-launched in 2002 as a 3-D online game (20th Anniversary Edition).
CHOW CHOW	Ancient Chinese dog breed which originally guarded temples.
COSTELLO-FABER MUSHROOM LAMP	Classic retro modern lamp shaped like a mushroom and constructed from molded plastic.
DRISCOLL AND PARTNERS ADVERTISING	Seattle-based advertising agency which specializes in medical accounts. Top client is GPC Pharmaceuticals.
E-INMATES.COM	Boise-based Internet company founded by Xavier Fenwick in 1998.
ENVISUALIZATION TRAINING	Innovative dog training technique which involves dressing poorly behaving dogs in costumes to signify what they did wrong.
FLIPPER	G-Sale slang for someone who buys an item at a garage sale for the expressed purpose of immediately reselling it (usually on the Internet) to make a quick profit.
G-SALE NOMENCLATURE	Garage sales (often abbreviated as "G-sale") are referred to as "tag sales" in the Northeast, "yard sales" in the Midwest, "porch sales" or "gimme sales" in the South.
GARAGE SALE RATING SYSTEM	Proposed rating system to accompany garage sale listings in the newspaper. BG = baby gear, A = antiques, CES = certified estate sale (requires proof of death).
GIFFER	G-Sale slang for someone who has fake garage sales (i.e. sells new stuff disguised as old stuff). See also "Flipper."
GILLMORE-PRESTON SPRING ENGINE	Type of small engine powered entirely by springs. Developed by Edmund Gillmore and Guy Preston in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1946.
GPC PHARMACEUTICALS	Bogwood-based biotech company who is developing Muclidopine.
GRAND CRATER	Alleged immense crater of the moon the existence of which conspiracy theorists claim is being covered up by the U.S. government.
GWABI	African nature preserve known for its "Adventure Vacations."
JARDINE EXCELSIOR LIGHTBULB	Innovative high lumen lightbulb invented by Dr. Alwin Jardine of Bogwood University in 1973. Allegedly promotes better vision.
KARTOFFEL	1960s manufacturer of office furniture and supplies.
KAURI WOOD	Water-resistant wood of the Kauri tree, native to tropical Pacific islands.
KOLN	Well-known furniture manufacturer. Created the Koln Chair in 1955.
KRAUER, HEIDI	Local antique dealer and friend of BJ Harwood and Helen Ziegler. Owned and operated Sputnik, a retro modern store, which competed with Moddities.
LAKE LOIS, WASHINGTON	Vacation resort area in Eastern Washington.
LINDEN, LAWRENCE RICHTER	Well-known architect of the 1960s and 1970s famous for his ranch houses (which juxtaposes Asian style roofs with strong vertical windows).
LOCKHART THEATRE	Bogwood playhouse which premiered "Bogdance: A Musical Celebration."
LODD, PAULIE	Childhood friend of Xavier Fenwick who drowned in Northbog Lake in 1970.
LUMMOTH COUNTY	Massachusetts county reputed in which the first garage sale took place in 1709 (referred to as a "stable sale").
MACINNES, BENNY	Childhood friend of Xavier Fenwick who moved to Belgium in 1969.
MACRONDO SOFTWARE	Large software company which produces both office and entertainment software, including the "Dynark's Legion" series of computer fantasy roleplaying games featuring one of the most popular animated computer characters "The Grey Princess."
MCNALLY, JENNIPHUR	Friend of BJ and Helen's who works in the Classified section of the Bogwood Tribute-Gazette and sometimes tips BJ and Helen off about g-sales before they appear in the paper. Also a member of the Bogwood All-Girls Badminton League.
MEX-TEX	Style of furnishings popular in the early 90s, featuring rustic Spanish American design.
MODDITIES	Downtown Seattle antique store owned by BJ Harwood and Helen Ziegler and specializing in "retro modern" artifacts. See also "Prima d'Bogwood."
MOSSES	From Clayton Fenwick's moss collection: sphagellium mitrosis - rare poisonous moss, ancellibum - only grows on tubers, harburnia - variety of edible moss which tastes like cheese, opeistus koovular - also known as "shadow moss" or "the groundhog of mosses." Fronds curl clockwise or counter-clockwise depending on light and temperature. Many people believe this moss can be used to predict an early Spring.
MUCLIDOPINE	New OTC medication to alleviate symptoms of nasal drip. Developed and marketed by Bogwood-based GHC Pharmaceuticals.
OLYMPIC RESEARCH	Research firm where Angela Cocci worked as a focus group moderator.
PHILAMINA'S DELI	Hollywood celebrity hangout during the 1950s and 1960s.
PORTER CABIN	Oldest standing structure in Bogwood. Constructed in 1879 by Edward Ivar Porter, a greengrocer.
POT O' GOLD	Popular TV show featuring the antics of Uncle Angus (Dick Nickerson), a leprechaun who joins a widower (Frank McMorty) and his young son (Gerry Jonneston) when they find a "Pot o' Gold" in a tree stump during a visit to Ireland. Pot o' Gold spawned the mid 60s catchphrase "begorrah!"
POT O' GOLD GAME	1963 board game based on the popular TV show produced by Keynes Games of Redison, Pennsylvania. Recalled after only a few weeks because the wrong type of paper was used in the manufacture of the game, resulting in severe paper cuts. Luckily only two shipments of the game were released (one to the Northwest, one to South America) before the error was caught.
PRIMA D'BOGWOOD	Predecessor to Moddities, this store is billed as "Bogwood's premier source for Mex-Tex furnishings." Now owned by Helen Ziegler and Heidi Krauer.
QUIBDO, COLUMBIA	One of the rainiest cities in the Southern hemisphere with annual rainfall of over 350 inches.
RETRO-MODERN	Style of furniture, art, and clothing circa 1950-1974. Also called "mid century modern."
SIDSTEIN, SHEL	Legendary TV and film producer. Creator of "Pot o' Gold."
SKYVOLD, LAYLA	Norwegian basketball superstar currently playing for the Seattle Thunderclouds women's pro basketball team.
TIKI LOUNGES	During the tiki craze of the 1950s and 1960s dozens tiki lounges sprung up around the country. The three most famous were in Los Angeles: the Ebbtider, the Shrimp Shack, and Captain Tayback's.
WENTWORTH, CHARLES	Renowned mid-century modern architect who pioneered the use of excessive glass in residential construction.
WILD CANYONS	1961 Western featuring Dick Nickerson as Cappy McDougal.
YORILLA, MORITA	Noted furniture designer of the 1960s and 1970s. His famous Yorilla coffee table is prized among collectors.
